Our commitments

Worthwhile Chat is built for charities that work to make a positive impact, handle sensitive data, and operate on public trust. That means the usual approach to AI isn't good enough.

🔐 Privacy & Security

Your data is never used to train AI models

Nothing you type into Worthwhile Chat is ever used to train or improve the AI models that power it. We have formal Data Processing Agreements with every provider that legally prohibit them from using your data for their own purposes. Your conversations exist to serve you, and only you.

Your data never leaves the UK and EU

All data is processed within enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure in the UK and EU, currently on Amazon Bedrock. Your information stays within a secure, encrypted environment and is never accessible to the public internet. This is the same class of infrastructure used by banks and government agencies.

Your conversations are private

We only collect anonymised usage data, such as the types of tasks charities are performing, so we can improve the tool's features and relevance for the sector. But this is pattern-level insight, not your content. We never share individual data with model providers.

Data protection compliance is built in

Our legal basis for processing your data is Contractual Necessity and Legitimate Interest. We hold formal Data Processing Agreements with all model providers. We use automated guardrails to detect and redact personally identifiable information. And regardless of which AI model is powering your conversation at any given moment, every interaction is protected by the same enterprise-grade security standards and the same contractual protections.

🛡️ Safety & Guardrails

Every response is screened for safety

Before any response reaches you, it passes through automated safeguards at the model routing level. This screens for harmful content and safeguarding risks in real time. We don't wait for problems to be reported, we catch them before they're generated.

Sensitive information is automatically detected and protected

Worthwhile Chat uses automated detection of personally identifiable information before it is processed. This pattern-based filtering acts as a safety net, helping to catch sensitive data such as names, addresses, or other personal details that might be entered inadvertently.

🌳 Trust & Transparency

Built by nonprofits and owned by the sector

Worthwhile Chat is built by CAST and The Developer Society. We’re both nonprofits. This isn't a commercial product dressed up in social impact language. It's sector infrastructure, designed to be resilient and independent.

The tool operates on a social enterprise model. It will be provided for free while we test, iterate and validate the need. If subscription fees are introduced, they will go directly back into development, safety features, and subsidised access for smaller organisations. 100% of any surplus is legally required to be reinvested into our mission. There are no shareholders, no profit extraction, and no incentive to monetise your data.

Pricing is designed for charity budgets

Subscription pricing is calculated from the cost of compute and the maintenance of safety infrastructure. Plans start from £3 per month, with no minimum contract, meaning you can cancel at any time. We're also exploring tiered pricing aligned with charity income levels, because we don’t believe a £10m organisation and a £100k organisation shouldn't pay the same.

The system is monitored around the clock

Worthwhile Chat includes automated health monitoring to ensure maximum uptime and reliable service. This monitoring also provides early detection of system degradation and emerging safety risks, so problems are identified and addressed before they affect your experience.
